QTC - Quicksteppers
To help you toward your goal of keeping fit, the Quality Time Club has established a walking group
- the Quicksteppers
Quicksteppers can be seen at the Berkshire Mall, wearing their distinctive t-shirts, walking, browsing, shopping, and having fun and conversation. They are members of The Quality Time Club at Greylock Federal Credit Union.
A kick-off for the Quicksteppers is held annually in September at the Mall. Members get together to form new acquaintances and renew old friendships. There are refreshments and giveaways at this annual meeting of the walkers, and then the members are sent to walk at their own pace on their own schedules. If exercise could be packaged in a pill, it would be the single most widely prescribed and beneficial medicine in the nation! Each year, more scientific evidence points to the benefits of exercise. Regular physical activity can help the human body maintain, repair, and improve itself to an amazing degree.
Exercise may strengthen heart and lungs, lower blood pressure, and prevent the development of adult onset diabetes. Exercise can strengthen and tone muscles, and maintain the ability to move easily by keeping joints, tendons, and ligaments flexible. Even moderate exercise can make a person look and feel better!
- Set realistic walking goals for yourself
- Upgrade your fitness program as you progress; avoid injury by pacing yourself
- Invite friends and family to join you
- If you use a pedometer, approximately 2,000 steps equal a mile!
