Matching Donation Honors Two Admired Employees Who Battled Cancer
August 12, 2008 - PITTSFIELD – Greylock Federal Credit Union announced that its annual employee involvement in the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life event surpassed previous records by 93%.
Greylock employees raised $9,268 this year through pledges and special events like bake sales. In honor of two long-time dedicated employees who passed away last year, Paula Wannamaker and Carol Deane, Greylock Federal Credit Union matched that amount bringing the total raised for the American Cancer to $18,000.
President Angelo Stracuzzi thanked Relay team captain Terry Ziemba and everyone involved for their efforts in making this a record year for staff participation. “I am so proud of our Greylock employees and their continued support for Relay For Life. Stracuzzi said. “Matching the money raised with a corporate donation is a fitting way to honor two greatly admired employees who battled cancer. I know Paula and Carol would be pleased.”
Ziemba said, “The number of Greylock employees volunteering their efforts more than doubled from the previous year. This clearly reflects our employees’ desire to celebrate the memory of our beloved friends, Paula and Carol, who were actively involved with the Relay for Life event for many years. Greylock employees are known for their support of community programs, but this year’s results are truly remarkable by any standard!”
Greylock Federal Credit Union was recently rated the top credit union in the United States for total value returned to Members/Owners according to Callahan & Associates, a national credit union research and consulting firm. Greylock
